Everyone comes to Hilton Head to soak in all of the breathtaking views, so why not take advantage of the beautiful scenery while dining out? After having some fun in the sun and exploring the 12 miles of pristine Hilton Head beaches, you’ll likely have worked up quite an appetite.
The island is full of delicious restaurants, but we’ve gathered a few of our favorites that feature waterfront views at a variety of price points. Whether you’re looking for a romantic date night spot or a place to bring the entire family, there’s sure to be something that will hit the spot.
Our Picks: Best Restaurants in Hilton Head with Waterfront Views
Old Oyster Factory
The Old Oyster Factory is a true Hilton head landmark that has been serving incredible eats with stunning waterfront views for 25 years. It was voted one of the "Top 100 Scenic View Restaurants" by Open Table. While enjoying a menu featuring the freshest seafood, a wide range of steaks and delicious desserts, take in the panoramic marshland views of Broad Creek.
While you’re there, ask about the history of the restaurant, which was actually built on the site of an original oyster cannery.
The Salty Dog Cafe
For over 31 years, The Salty Dog Cafe has been dishing up the fresh and tasty fare for seafarers and land goers alike. It wouldn’t be uncommon to see someone wearing one of their famous t-shirts somewhere else in the country - they’re just that iconic! Browse the menu and choose from fresh seafood, award-winning crab legs, amazing sandwiches, pasta dishes, burgers and, of course, their legendary hushpuppies.
You can either sit inside and explore Jake’s Gallery and other Salty Dog memorabilia or dine outside on the docks for unmatchable views of Braddock Cove. There truly isn’t a bad seat in the house, and everyone in the family will love this place!
Sunset Grille
For more of a date night spot, you’ll want to head off the beaten path and head over to Sunset Grille. This casual fine dining restaurant was established in 1996, and whether you are dining at lunch, dinner or Sunday brunch, you will not be disappointed. For years, Sunset Grille is consistently recognized as one of Hilton Head Islands best-kept secrets and was voted to have one of the best Bloody Marys in the south by Garden & Gun magazine.
Along with incredible dessert and alcoholic beverage options, Sunset Grille also offers one of the best sunset and water views on Hilton Head Island. Tucked away in the Hilton Head Harbor Marina on the Intracoastal Waterway, this hidden gem overlooks Pinckney Island Wildlife Refuge, and the view is totally worth it!
Coco’s on the Beach
Coco’s on the Beach is a tiki-style bar directly on the warm sand of the beach. The views from this bar can absolutely not be beat, and the drinks are some of the best on the island. To get to this hidden paradise, you’ll have to park at the Hilton Head Resort. Parking is $5, but if you present your wristband at Coco’s you get a $5 toward your meal. The walk from the parking lot is a bit of a hike, but you get to walk along a beautiful boardwalk with marsh views.
Once you get to Coco’s, you’ll find delicious quick bites, refreshing drinks, and a beach volleyball court. We also love that Coco’s sits at the end of Singleton Beach, where most of our Hilton Head vacation rentals are located. It’s the perfect spot to hit after a long day at the beach!
